Eight of our titles are now available in print, and more are in preparation.

Features

Our Books

We publish primarily in PDF (designed for Adobe Reader 7) and PDC format (a PDC is an encrypted form of PDF, which requires special viewing software, which is provided free).

Some of our titles are now being converted to html format for sale through Mobipocket.com, to make them suitable for reading on hand-held devices. Other titles may soon become available for paid online access in PDF format through the Google Book Partner program. Other are available in paperback from Troubador.co.uk. The product page for each book will state which formats are available.

Your First Purchase

The purchase information that follows applies solely to Ebooks purchased directly from this site, not to books purchased through Mobipocket or accessed through the Google Book Partner Programme.

Paypal Payments

Having chosen your titles and added them to the Cart, and added the details we need to process your order, please make payment through Paypal. (If you have not used Paypal before, you will need to register and decide on the funding account you wish to use.) Subsequent purchases through Paypal are easy, and transactions are secure: your payment is carried out on their servers. We never see your account details.

You will receive separate receipts from Paypal and from us.

PDF PURCHASES (open in Adobe Reader)

As soon as Paypal confirm your payment you will be able to download your book from "My Bookshelf". Adobe Reader 7 is recommended.

PDC PURCHASES (open in Lizard Viewer)

  1. As soon as Paypal confirm your payment you will be able to access your licence file and viewer software via "My Bookshelf".
  2. If you wish, you can download and instal the viewer before purchase of the book: click on one of the following links, save Locklizard Viewer to your disk, and Double-click on the program to run the installation process.

  3. Save your licence to an identifiable folder (such as My Ebooks) where you can find it again, and double-click on it while online.
  4. Finally, click on your book title, and the Viewer software will open automatically.

If for any reason you are unable to instal our software you will be refunded.

Delivery and Use of PDC Ebooks

You can download a PDC book you want from the product page at any time, even before you have bought your licence. To open an ebook thereafter simply click on the icon using Windows Explorer. When prompted, please upgrade your Locklizard Viewer to the latest version. Basic instructions for use of our books will be found on page 2 of each book. For a complete Viewer manual see http://www.locklizard.com/download_digital_rights_management.htm

Troubleshooting (PDC Documents)

Some institutional networks may make it difficult to instal the required software or to register your licence. In this case you may need the assistance of your network administrator, who should be referred to the online troubleshooting guide at http://www.locklizard.com/pdc-viewer-troubleshooting.htm.

Subsequent Purchases

Subsequent Purchases could not be simpler:

  1. Select the book
  2. Log in using the user name and password you supplied previously
  3. Pay through your existing Paypal account.

Access to your new book is immediate. You do not need a new licence. You do not have to instal anything. Each new purchase automatically extends your existing licence to include the new title.

Tax

Sales inside the EC are subject to 17.5% VAT but the stated purchase price includes tax. You will pay only the stated purchase price.

Replacement and Upgrades.

Your licence permits you enjoy trouble free reading of your ebooks or ebooks, and of any subsequent edition of the same book or books. If there is a problem with your book we will investigate and replace it. If you have two computers, or replace your computer, we will issue a second licence on proof of purchase.

Printing

You may print from a PDF book at any time. With a PDC book your licence permits you to print part or all of the book on one occasion. Please note two points, however:

  1. If your printer dialogue has a check-box for fit to page, please check that box (our books are designed primarily for onscreen use and the page is wider than usual for A4 paper). This applies to both PDF and PDC formats.
  2. If you want a printed copy of the whole PDC book you must print the whole book in one operation. Printing a trial page will disable further printing.

Privacy Policy

We do not give any customer information to any other sources, so you can be sure that your details are always secure. We must have your address so as to determine whether we have to pay tax on your purchase, and we need your email address to deliver your licence.

Library Purchases

Library Purchases of encrypted ebooks

Libraries may purchase any of our book titles in PDC form by the usual method, selecting one licence per computer terminal. You may choose any number of licences you wish, but please note that it is not possible to buy 5 copies of one book and 7 of another – the licensing system requires that each purchaser always buys the same number of copies. Our software will automatically enable the licence to be registered from multiple terminals, up to the number of licences you purchase. If payment through Paypal is not convenient, payment by cheque can be arranged and licences manually issued.

From April 2008 it maybe possible for Libraries to purchase annual access to the entire series of Humanities Insights. Please write to richardgravil@hotmail.com for details.

Library PDF Editions

As an alternative, an unencrypted library edition [with superior definition and navigability] is available of all titles other than Humanities Insights. The price is 3 times that of a single copy, for use on up to three terminals, and pro rata for a larger number of terminals. The library must undertake to ensure that the title will be read only on the specified number of terminals, and that each of those terminals must be secure against any form of copying (or emailing) of the book. Purchase of library editions is by invoice. Librarians wishing to purchase a library edition should contact richardgravil@hotmail.com
